The Wietzes story goes back to the mid 1950’s when Dutch immigrant Jan Wietzes  brought his family to Canada to find a better life. With his wife, two sons and his daughter he settled his family in Toronto. 
   
 With a background in auto mechanics, he partnered to open his first repair garage on Fleet Street and then moved to Mount Pleasant and Broadway in mid-town Toronto to take over a Supertest gas Station. It soon lead to selling used vehicles and their reputation for good service soon spread.

About this time, Jan’s two sons started to get involved in their father’s business and things began to grow. It became apparent that the present location was too small for their growing business and they looked to move again. 

This time they looked at property in North Toronto and found 6080 Yonge Street in Willowdale. Many told them that it was to far in the country and they would have troubles succeeding up there! Little did they know what a great location it would turn out to be! 
   
 After trying the different automotive manufactures of the time like Sunbeam and Isuzu, they were approached with the opportunity of taking on a new franchise in Canada, so in April of 1969 they took on the little known Toyota Franchise.

And so it started, with sales of Toyota Crowns and Starlets, to the early eighties and the launch of the Tercel which propelled Toyota into the Candian Marketplace.
